Eden Springs is part of the premium wine growing High Eden sub-region of the Eden Valley, which in turn is a region of the
world-renowned Barossa zone.
High Eden is said to be South Australia's best high-altitude, cool-climate wine district, with a reputation for elegant, full-flavored varietal wines. Other notable wine companies with vineyards in High Eden include Penfold's, Yalumba and
Mountadam.

The rugged Eden Springs property, established 30 years ago, includes 12 hectares of vineyard - a mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Riesling, three varieties which produced low grape yields but exceptional wines in High Eden's tough growing conditions. The soils are shallow and sandy, spilling down steep slopes. Winters are very cold, and usually very windy and wet. Snow is also quite often every couple of years. Spring, too, can be uncomfortably breezy.
By contrast, our summers are cool and sunny. The resulting long ripening period means our grapes hang on the vines much longer than in other wine districts, slowly building up marvelous flavors. Vintages tends to be in the latter half of fall; the last of the crop is often picked in mid-May, when most of the leaves have fallen from the vines. The wines come from vines which produced no more than five tons to the hectare in their respective vintages.
